Director of Technology
Del Norte USD
Chris York’s role with the Del Norte County Unified School District is to train teachers and administrators in technology use, to advocate for the use of technology in the classroom, and to produce an analysis of the annual standardized state test for use by teachers and administrators. He has conducted staff development for both teachers and administrators in the use of technology and undertakes development of technology programs and infrastructure plans within the school district. Prior to his current position, Chris was a site principal and previous to that, taught mathematics and science middle school for eight years.
While teaching at the middle school, Chris and his co-teacher were selected as GTE Fellows for development of an integrated mathematics and science unit. He also created the first school-wide network within his District. That involved installing wiring, and maintaining computers. As a District Technology Mentor, he trained teachers in the use of technology. He was also selected as one of the founding members of the state CTAP committee, representing Region 1.
Chris's favorite professional publications are PC Magazine, PC World, and Technology & Learning. On his time off, he enjoys playing with his grandchildren, working around the house, and camping.
