Kevin SilberbergSuperintendent, Panama-Buena Vista Union School District
Dr. Kevin Silberberg is Superintendent of the Panama Buena Vista Union School District, one of the largest K-8 school districts in California. Appointed to the position in 2013, Kevin is directing an ambitious comprehensive reform effort designed to raise academic standards and narrow the achievement gap for thousands of students. He is leading an inclusive team of school leaders who are together examining and creating shifts from the traditional school system. The results have been outstanding!
Kevin has had a varied career as a teacher, "National Blue Ribbon" principal, superintendent, university faculty member, and in 2012, was asked to be part of a statewide task force on "Digital Learning" by the California Department of Education. Currently he is the Chair of the Technology Learning Group within the Association of California School Administrators combining his experience using technology from the boardroom to the classroom. Along with an Educational Technology Doctorate from Pepperdine University, his focus has been, and will always be, utilizing 21st century tools for student learning.
Kevin has received numerous awards for leadership from school districts, associations, state and federal departments of education and, in 2012, received the ACSA Superintendent of the Year for both the West Kern Charter and Region Eleven. Kevin received his B.A. and M.A. from Point Loma College, and an Ed.D from Pepperdine University.
