Calling All Administrators with a Vision for Technology





TICAL is seeking a practicing California administrator from ACSA Region 9 to fill a vacancy in TICAL's Leadership Cadre. The Cadre is a voluntary group of practicing administrators who believe in the value and importance of technology to the future of education. Cadre members recommend and create resources to be included in the TICAL web site (portical.org), deliver professional development to colleagues, serve as models of effective technology leadership in their regions, and function as ambassadors for TICAL. Cadre members have expertise in applying technology to one or more of the following areas:

  • Data-driven decision-making
  • Integrating technology in standards-based curriculum
  • Professional development of staff
  • Technology planning
  • Systems operations and maintenance
  • Financial planning

Cadre Benefits:

  • $1,800 stipend
  • Attend retreats (travel and lodging expenses paid by TICAL)
  • Participate in a select and unique learning community of peers from across the state.
  • Acquire valuable new knowledge about technology and administrative leadership

Cadre Qualifications:

  • Current or former K-12 administrator
  • Site, district, or county level experience
  • A vision for how technology can improve education
  • Ability to help colleagues develop their own vision and effective use of technology to improve learning and school operations

Participant Commitment:

  • Two-year commitment (2006-2008 academic years)
  • Attend three cadre retreats per year. Retreats are currently held in the fall, winter, and spring in Santa Cruz. We convene on a Thursday evening and end at noon the following Saturday. 2006-2007 retreats are scheduled as follows:
    • October 26-28, 2006
    • January 18-20, 2007
    • May 3-5, 2007
  • Facilitate 2 professional development opportunities annually in home region
  • Complete one project per year related to TICAL's mission.
  • Recommend and review resources for inclusion in the TICAL database.
  • Actively participate in the TICAL Forum.
